Asus Zenfone AR To Come With 8GB RAM,Qualcomm Snapdragon 821, AR & VR
Asus has announced a new smartphone at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2017, which is a merger of Google-backed augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) technology. Known as the Asus Zenfone AR, this is the world’s first smartphone to feature both these technologies. This smartphone focuses on the ever-popular VR trend, while subsequently making use of Google’s Tango and Daydream software to accomplish its grand ambitions.
On the specs front, the Zenfone AR comes with a 5.7 inch 1440 x 2560 super AMOLED display paired with a new “immersive” five-magnet speaker that supports High-Res Audio and DTS virtual surround sound. It includes an optimized Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 CPU with 8GB of RAM and a Qualcomm Adreno 530 GPU. The smartphone is equipped with 6 sensors for measuring depth, motion tracking, room mapping as well as image recognition. The software will be able to detect how far the smartphone is from a wall, where it is located in the building and how far is the distance between two points. Additionally, the ZenFone AR features Google Daydream, allowing users to quickly convert the smartphone into a VR machine.
The ZenFone AR is only the second device ever to include Google Tango, a 3D-mapping technology, to deliver seamless augmented reality that can be used for gaming, educational and domestic uses. The Zenfone AR’s powerful components allow for smoother, more accurate rendering with AR/VR apps.
Camera-wise, Asus claims that the ZenFone AR has the highest resolution mobile camera sensor (Sony IMX318) on the rear, which is capable of creating 92-megapixel images by combining four native 23MP photos to create a single “super resolution” photo. According to Asus, these types of photos have four times the clarity and less noise than a standard HD photo. The ZenFone AR also uses similar layering processes to shoot better photos in low-light settings. It also has the capacity to record 4K videos and runs on Android Marshmallow.
While the ZenFone AR is scheduled for release in Q2 2017, it doesn’t have a set price right now. Regardless, this smartphone really sounds exciting and it would definitely stimulating to see how this device fares in the already crowded smartphone market.
